As a member of Rotary International since March 2008, I served as a member of The Laredo Rotary Club from 2008 to 2022. I played numerous roles, including club president, and led efforts to organize and implement numerous service projects to help individuals in need. Some of these included initiatives to help prospective parents meet prospective children to adopt, providing school supplies to children in need, and providing books and other resources to help three elementary schools in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas (Mexico) establish libraries to help encourage the love of reading among their students.
From 2015-2023, I served as Assistant Governor and Chair of the Scholarship, Grants, and Rotary Foundation Committees for Rotary District 5930. As Assistant Governor, I helped Rotary clubs get organized, develop plans of action, and implement these plans to help them effectively serve their communities with different short-term and long-term projects.
As District Chair of the Scholarship, Grants, and Rotary Foundation Committees I worked collaboratively with other Rotarians and community members to design and implement initiatives to help Rotary clubs serve their communities. These efforts included providing scholarships to individuals in need to pursue a higher education. We also collaborated with Rotary clubs and districts in other parts of the world to provide resources to help communities in need improve their health conditions, food supply, and infrastructure.
Since July 1, 2024, I have been a member of the Rotary E-Club of Central Texas. In this capacity, I have worked with other Rotarians from Texas, other states, and other countries to design and implement service projects aimed at helping communities in need. One of these projects involved setting up Peace Poles at an elementary and a middle-high school in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas (Mexico) in the fall of 2024. The purpose of this initiative was to encourage international and world peace. We collaborated with the administration, faculty, and students to organize and implement different activities to highlight the importance of pursuing peace throughout the world.
