I received a letter informing me of the Science Fair and decided to volunteer to serve as a judge, as a way to model for the students and show an appreciation for their hard work.
The applicant coordinates yearly physicals required to meet local school and state requirements for the Home’s residents. The applicant delivers instruction/education on various topics to the teenage girls and the sisters in the religious congregation that range from teen dating, hygiene, self-breast exams to diabetes, hypertension, exercise, etc. The applicant works with the residents, the caregivers, appropriate outreach communities serving together in the spirit of the gospel to heal the body, mind and spirit to improve the health of the residents. The applicant also serves as a Big Sister to the residents, provide guidance on day to day matters/concerns, personal and educational goals.
As a volunteer I helped escort students to the various stations for example storytelling, etc. My assistance helped with the organization and success of the LISD Science Fair.
20th Annual White Mass for Healthcare Professionals. The White Mass was performed by Bishop James A. Tamayo, Diocese of Laredo.
Border Region held a health fair for mental illness awareness and to showcase the different resources available in the community. There was live music and performances by the cheerleaders of various elementary schools. Mental healthcare providers provided information e.g. brochures on various community resources. Upon the encouragement of psych & mental health faculty, yours truly, seven students performing a psychiatric/mental health clinical rotation attended the event.
